Even though, Embraer’s success stems from its resolute passion for aviation which is deeply rooted within its culture and commonly shared by its stakeholders, the company like many other manufacturers in the aviation industry faces various challenges. The report, however, focuses on the specific challenges within its supply chain management. Therefore, the report begins by addressing these specific supply chain management problems. Secondly, it delves into the analysis of its leadership and organizational behavior and concludes with proposed solutions and recommendations.

Supply Chain Management Issues

The issues within Embraer supply chain management draw a lot of concerns following the negative effects it has on the company’s operations. Since its inception in the aviation industry, Embraer’s complex global supply chain has always involved sourcing materials, various components, and parts from several suppliers from different countries across the globe. These challenges can be classified as stemming from the issues of supplier reliability, transport logistics, quality control, and demand forecasting (Bruno & Norris, 2022). These drawbacks have an extensive negative effect on the general operation of the company. For example, disruptions or delays in the supply chain impact negatively production schedules as they become a stumbling block on aircraft delivery timelines. In addition, it is evident that timely communication among different stakeholders within the company is lacking causing further delays in establishing efficient resolution or decision-making.

Secondly, it is also evident that the company is grappling with its existing office setup, especially the synchronicity of physical and computer-based file management systems. As the organization tries to navigate through the modern business landscape, overreliance on the amalgamation of both physical and digital records has brought complex challenges that affect the firm’s efficiency, security, and general performance. Similarly, Embraer also experiences increased security risks linked with its current office setup. For example, the use of both physical files and computers exposes the company to various vulnerabilities and security breaches.

The deficiency of robust security measures that protect the company such as burglar-proofing exposes the firm to certain risks of theft of sensitive information. Additionally, it was also evident that the firm lacks adequate fire detection and mitigation approaches in place which further makes it susceptible to massive data loss and operation disruption in case of a fire outbreak (Bruno & Norris, 2022). Therefore, these security risks not only put at risk confidential information but also carry financial burdens to the company. This is because, data loss can substantially cost the company in several ways such as legal battles, data recovery resources as well and brand damage. Business Analysis PPT Assignment

Furthermore, the combination of physical archives with digital data can potentially obstruct the process of retrieval. This is because it is time-consuming to locate specific files on the data stored in physical archives making the task labor-intensive.  Thus, such kind of inefficiency slows down the operations and decision-making in various departments of the company especially when swift access to relevant data is vital. In other words, delayed retrieval of such pertinent data could extensively lead to decreased general productivity of the company owing to operational delays.

Notably, reliability and quality control is also an issue within Embraer company. The company often sources its materials for operation, parts, and other critical components from various regions across the globe. However, the company finds it challenging to ensure consistent and efficient deliveries of these materials. For instance, the organization often faces supply chain disruptions on the basis of geopolitical tensions in some regions of their operations, and natural disasters leading to massive losses and uncertainty caused by shifting market demands. These factors, therefore, negatively impact the availability of essential inputs causing production delays and a sudden rise in costs of operations.

Embraer also experiences difficulties in transportation logistics which impacts its production schedules.  Maintaining production schedules is an essential element for the success of operations of every firm. However, Embraer finds it challenging to cope with timely and efficient movement of materials and assemblies to and from various locations (Bruno & Norris, 2022). In other words, the company experiences delays in the shipment of various materials from different regions causing a ripple effect on the production process. Furthermore, variability in consumer preferences, global economic conditions, and market trends also negatively impact accurate demand forecasting.

Finally, the company also experiences challenges of communication and collaboration among its stakeholders within its supply chain. It is evident that Embraer faces poor communication within its supply chain owing to the level of misunderstanding between the management structures that caused reported confusion among the clients during service delivery (Chen et al., 2020). Nonetheless, timely information exchanges are critical between the management team and the suppliers in order to manage inventory effectively while also planning production schedules swiftly. However, with the notable production inefficiency within the firm, customer satisfaction levels extensively drop as most customer’s loyalty to the brand is compromised leading to reputational damage for the company.

Preliminary Solutions

From the challenges reported above on the supply chain management of the company, there are a number of primary solutions that Embraer can implement to mitigate some of these problems. For instance, in the case of poor communication and collaboration among stakeholders, Embraer can seek to streamline operations and improve its customer satisfaction by drawing more attention to the aforementioned aspects. This is because the survey respondents all agreed that there was an urgent need to enhance communication channels for effective coordination and collaboration (Survey Monkey, n.d.). Secondly, there is a need for efficiency improvement for the company as delays in service delivery are seen as a problem that might have dire consequences for the operation of the firm in the future.

Meanwhile, urgent attention is also required in inventory management, where the organization can implement technology integration for substantial benefits in the long run. This is because the progressive use of physical files along with computers in data storage is deemed to be labor-intensive and has the potential to cause further delays in service delivery. Besides inventory management, communication and collaboration with suppliers, demand planning and forecasting are also areas that require more attention for improvement in the company’s supply chain. Thus, from the insights highlighted by those who participated in the survey, adopting technological solutions to optimize inventory levels is considered a necessary step toward the efficiency of operations within the company’s supply chain.

Moreover, in response to some of the noticeable challenges within its supply chain, Embraer can go a step further to reconsider its comprehensive digital change strategy which prioritizes accessibility, security, and consistency in its operations. For example, the security challenge requires the implementation of advanced security measures such as adequate fire detection systems, access controls, and working surveillance systems within the company. This approach will not only enhance its security in terms of risk of theft but also heavily contribute to the prevention of data loss. Thus, transitioning towards a full digitalized workflow is found to be an effective mechanism for streamlining processes and minimizing potential errors that might be problematic to the firm at the moment pertaining to the use of both physical and digital records.

Additionally, the incorporation of physical servers within its office setup is a significant step for the company to implement as it continues with its journey toward technological expansion. According to Linsey (2021), integrating physical servers in the supply chain requires thorough planning and execution. This would be a holistic approach towards transforming the office setup for seamless integration of physical servers for purposes of enhancing digital service delivery. Therefore, a comprehensive infrastructure analysis, critical implementation, and strategic planning phase are required for the success of this change.
