How to Crack SSC CGL Exam in First Attempt

SSC CGL is one of India's most competitive exams — lakhs of aspirants for a few thousand posts. But every year, thousands of first-timers clear it. What separates them isn't more study hours; it's a sharper plan and disciplined revision.

Start with the syllabus and previous-year papers, not a textbook. Spend your first week mapping which chapters actually carry marks — in Quant, topics like Algebra, Geometry and Data Interpretation dominate; in English, Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension repeat patterns year after year.

Build your day around three blocks: one new concept block, one practice block (chapter-wise questions with a timer) and one revision block. From day one, maintain a small error notebook — every question you get wrong goes in it, with the reason you got it wrong. Revising that notebook weekly is worth more than any new book.

The final 60 days belong to mock tests. Attempt full-length mocks on the real exam pattern, at the real exam time slot, and analyse each one for at least as long as you took to attempt it. Your score will climb from analysis, not from attempting more mocks blindly.
